Telecom providers started phasing out the 3G network at the beginning of 2020. If your provider no longer supports this network, our alarm dialers have an automatic fallback to 2G. However, KPN's 2G network will also be discontinued as of April 2025. As a result, the lifespan of older types of detectors is limited and they must be replaced within 5 years at the latest (possibly early) in order not to compromise safety in your very critical processes.
It is becoming increasingly clear through the media that both the 2G and 3G networks will be closed down in the foreseeable future. It varies per provider, but the end is in sight or has even already been reached.
This is also important for alarm centers that are currently in the field or are purchased new. Much of the hardware used is based on 2G and is NOT suitable for 3G, 4G or 5G networks.
To date, these are the last dates that major providers publish:
If you want to buy an alarm center with a SIM card, please note that this must be a 4G center!
