BUS short circuit isolation module
This product is a part of the JABLOTRON JA-100 alarm system. It serves for better protection of bus cable lines indoors. It separates the outdoor part of the BUS line from the line inside the house. If the outdoor part is damaged (e.g. a burglar short-circuits the cable), the branch line of the system inside remains functional.
The use of the insulator is mainly recommended in cases, where the bus cable is routed outside the room to be monitored. Using the isolator, individual floors (or wings) in the house can also be separated.
The isolator can also be used to extend the cable; in the case of a long line, signal transmission is improved. The module is intended to be installed by a trained technician with valid Jablotron certification.
Installation
The module can be installed in a JA-190PL (Jablotron) mounting box, in the control panel cabinet and/or in a standard el. installation box. Always best inside the room to be monitored.
Any number of isolators can be installed in the system. However, it can only be used for the branches of the internal BUS line. No isolators may be connected one after the other.
Before connecting the BUS, the system must be disconnected from the power supply.
Figure: 1 - terminals of the outer branch BUS (O); 2 - indication of failure of the outer branch BUS ; 3 - terminals of the inner branch BUS (I from the central unit)
After connecting cables and turning on the system, the isolator is functional. It does not need to be classified in the system (it does not take a position).
Function
The isolator interrupts the line of the output bus (O) for 5 sec in the following cases:
1. The current to be taken from the isolator exceeds 250mA (terminals +U and GND on the OUTSIDE side)
2. The voltage on the BUS supply drops below 9V (terminals +U and GND on the INSIDE side)
If the high decrease or dropped voltage is permanent, the output bus (O) remains permanently interrupted, possibly the voltage can operate in cycles of 5 sec. When the output bus is interrupted, the yellow signal light (2) will be on permanently.
When a wired peripheral is to be connected at a long distance and the signal quality improvement module is applied, care should be taken that there is sufficient voltage on the supply side of the bus (by using a properly sized cable), so that when the input voltage drops below 9 V, the output side (O) of the bus is not interrupted.
